Practice Guidelines

Practice times indicate the time we are loading the boat and leaving the dock.
Aim to arrive 15 minutes before the posted practice time to facilitate the coach’s line up of paddlers and to warm up, and to help prepare the boats.

To help prepare the boats, open the shed, get the steering oars, throw bags and steerer’s/coach’s seat down to the docks.
Remove covers, bail/clean the boats as necessary, install the drummer’s/coach’s seat. Everyone needs to take a turn at helping our Club on and off the boats.
Each paddler is responsible for the energy s/he brings into the boat. Positive energy creates more positive energy.
Constructive criticism is the only kind acceptable, and should be made in the spirit of helping others improve their technique.
Only coaches and steerers, or paddlers nominated by the coach should be calling instructions in the boat.

In the event of a capsize, we use the buddy system: you are responsible for your seat mate.
Paddlers in the front and rear rows are to also ensure the safety of the drummer/coach and the steerer, respectively. Stay with the boat.

If you must cancel your attendance, please do so on TeamSnap. If you must cancel within 24 hours of practice (in which case the cut-off to cancel on TeamSnap will have passed), please contact a coach.

If you have any questions or concerns, please bring them privately to a coach or Club Captain.
